Just north of Diani, Tiwi Beach hides one of the Kenyan coast’s most distinctive natural attractions: the Map of Africa Pool, a tidal rock pool carved into the coral reef and shaped remarkably like the African continent.
The experience is all about exploring the reef at low tide, when the natural pools and rock formations are exposed. You can swim in the clear seawater, look for small marine life, and explore nearby coral caves and sheltered pools along the coastline.
For guests looking for a little more adventure, there are also places where people jump from the surrounding rock ledges into the water. This is entirely optional and should only be done when your guide confirms that tide, depth, and conditions are suitable.
Because the pool is tidal, timing matters. Your visit will be arranged around the best tide window so the pool and surrounding reef can be explored safely and comfortably.
It is a great half-day choice if you want something more adventurous than a simple beach stop, but still close to Diani.
